Congratulations on your new Ecopure Product.
Your Eco-3 Drinking Water Filter consists of the filter, a replacement cartridge, the mounting bracket, The PRV, T-Piece, self-piercing saddle clamp, washers, tubing and a tap. You may have the ULTRA (Gold), EXTRA (Blue) or PLUS (White).
Fill in date of installation and advised replacement date on product label with a permanent marker.
This is what the final install will look like.
Determine the plumbing type.
Confirm whether you have braided hose or hard copper plumbing which services your selected water feed for your new Ecopure product.
Turn water off.
Turn water off at stop cock or isolate water if isolation valve is installed.
Isolation valves and stop cocks come in various different shapes and sizes.
Select the desired location for your tap upon your kitchen countertop.
We suggest next to sink directly above cupboard where installing filter. It is advisable to install so that filter tap flows into sink.
Using a 12.5mm drill bit and variable speed drill make hole in chosen position in countertop.
Make sure you install for easy access for tightening compression nut under the countertop.
Bolt the tap to the countertop.
Put the end of tap through chrome plate and black rubber washer and then through hole in the countertop, then secure under countertop with locating washes, then the lock washer and finally the nut.
Remove nut from bottom of tap.
Before attaching tubing, slide brass nut over the end of tubing to be attached to tap.
Then slide olive over the end of same tubing to be attached to tap.
Insert the sleeve into end of the tubing.
Push tubing into end of tap and using adjustable spanner, secure by tightening brass compression nut around threaded tap end.
Braided hose instructions.
Use shifting spanner to loosen the braided hose.
Undo the braided hose from the isolation valve. Caution: there will be an excess of water within the pipe which may require mopping up.
Fit the Braided hose adaptor (T-piece) to the isolation valve.
Re-connect the braided hose.
Reconnect the braided hose to the T-piece adaptor.
Cut tubing at desired length.
Take remaining tubing from slide 18 before and measure from filter to T-piece and cut into 2 lengths.
Attach tubing to T-piece.
Secure the tubing to the compression fitting by fastening the nut.
Copper piping instructions.
Find the cold water feed.
Turn on cold water tap and feel the pipes. A hot water tap, when opened, will heat up relevant pipe below sink so seek out pipe which feels cold.
Installing Self-Piercing Saddle Valve.
The system can be mounted on copper piping of 22mm to 15mm in diameter on cold water supply line. Note: Not to be used on flexipipe.
Turn off cold water valve under the sink of main valve for the house.
Slide clamp over copper piping.
Tighten bottom screw firmly to hold the clamp in position.
Pierce the copper pipe.
Turn needle valve handle clockwise until firmly seated. The valve is closed in this position.
DO NOT OPEN NEEDLE VALVE UNTIL FULL FILTER INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
Turn on main stop cock or isolation valve to pressurise cold water line. Immediately check for leaks.
Take remaining tubing and measure from filter to Saddle Valve and cut tube into 2 lengths.
Connect one of remaining tubes into compression nut using insert and sleeve, then tighten the nut firmly.
For Braided Hose and Copper Piping.
Connecting the PRV.
Insert tubing from Saddle Valve or T-piece to PRV...
... and remaining tubing into other end of PRV.
Connecting the Eco-3 Filter.
You may have the ULTRA (Gold), EXTRA (Blue) or PLUS (White).
Fit tubing to the Eco-3 unit.
Simply push the tubing (loose end from PRV) all the way into the Pushfit fittings on the top side of the Eco-3 unit - ensure this is into the inlet fitting marked IN.
Check that this tubing is water tight, pull on the fitting tubing to see that there is no play within the fitting itself.
Pick desired location for bracket.
Using bracket, measure and mark where 2 screws will be located. Fix screws accordingly.
Separate the cradle from the filter head.
Use thumbs to remove cradle from filter.
Screw cradle to mounting bracket.
Firmly fix mounting bracket and handle at desired location.
Hang bracket on inserted screws and tighten accordingly. By loosening the cradle screw (as seen in previous slide), cradle can be rotated 360 degrees. Tighten screw afterwards.
Slot filter into cradle.
Line up cradle tooth with slot in filter head and push firmly until secure (Mounting bracket is now mounted on the wall).
Connect the 2nd tubing.
To check that this tubing is water tight - pull on the fitted tubing to see that there is no play within the fitting itself.
Turn the newly installed filter tap on.
Leave this tap turned open.
If using copper pipe, open needle valve on the self-piercing saddle valve to allow flow of water through system.
Slowly open the isolation valve.
By slowly releasing the water into the newly fitted Eco-3 system, you can monitor that there are no loose fittings which are causing leaks.
Fully open the isolation valve.
Run water through system for 1 minute to flush out loose carbon and ceramic sediment.
